  • Tefillah Circle (to practice the basics of prayer)

  • Fun Shabbat activity (including stories and Torah Jeopardy among others!)

  • A healthy snack

  • Socialization and free-play time

  • Encouragement and rewards (prizes, anyone?!) for positive middos (behavior) and learning

  • Supervised transfer of your child to the Mussaf service

  • Groups available for children ages 2-5 and 6-9

Please note that a parent must be in the synagogue at all times during programming.

Introduction to Midrash

The older children (6+) love to learn Midrash, and to be asked questions at home, especially at the Shabbos table.  An excellent resource for Midrash is a series called The Midrash Says Click HERE for a link to purchase the book at Judaism.com.    Younger children may be interested in the The Little Midrash Says, available HERE.

This special programming is brought to you by your community partners, The Committee for Family Enrichment: Rebettzin Chanie Deitsch, Terri Zoffer (Gan Israel Preschool teacher), Jeff Gruen, Dr. Erica Statman, and Ariel Friedman.

Please stay tuned for more information about this program and opportunities for volunteering!

What Are Torah Tokens and Why Are They So Cool?

coins.jpg

At first glance, the Torah Tokens appear simply as colorful plastic disks, but they are much cooler than that!

You get Torah Tokens for doing the right stuff on Shabbos while in the kid's program, davening in schul, and for learning Jewish ideas at home during the week with your family.

Why would I want to collect these Torah Tokens, you ask?

  • Because it's a mitzvah to participate in our programs
  • You'll learn cool stuff
  • You'll be able to impress your friends with how much you know

You'll earn GREAT prizes!

The official ways to earn Torah Tokens

Torah Token Values

  1. Earn 3 Torah Tokens for following the rules of the program by: being a good friend, being a zipper-mouth, raising your hand to answer
questions and staying in your seat.
  2. Earn up to 4 Torah Tokens for participating in the Torah Game or Play of the Week
  3. Earn up to 2 Torah Tokens for davening nicely during Musaf
  4. Earn up to 5 Torah Tokens for activities during the week.
    • Earn ½ token for every night during the week for every five extra minutes you spend learning the Parasha (up to a maximum of 3)
  5. Earn 1 Torah Token for answering parasha questions or for giving a dvar Torah during our program.
  6. Earn 1 Torah Token for making up a parasha play with or without the help of your siblings.

But what do I get for saving these Torah Tokens? Here's where it gets cool! Look at the list of prizes (coming soon)! Some require relative few tokens. Other need a lot more. Then decide for what prize you want to save up! It's that easy!

Good luck, Torah Wizzes!
We know you can do it!
